Wagons Roll
IT’S been all change at the beach car park with the departure of the Norfolk’s Edge Airstreams and the arrival of Debbie Hive and Seal View.
The first food truck rolled onto the site last month with plans for a log cabin offering shelter for customers to follow shortly afterwards, although delayed by suppliers, along with another wagon.
When it arrives the cabin will offer customers somewhere warm and welcoming out of the wind and rain.
Debbie, from Hemsby, opened for business on November 26, offering hot drinks, soups and rolls. But she will be expanding the range.
The businesswoman, who operates several food wagons on the seafront in Yarmouth, said: “I’ve had lovely feedback so far, It’s been quite positive.”
Coffee made with fresh beans, roast pork and turkey filled rolls and hot chocolate have all proved popular. “We’ll be doing a variety of hot foods, different specials and soups through the winter,” she said.
There’ll be coffee, cakes and cookies and in the summer she hopes to offer a fish platter.
The ice cream machine with different flavours should also prove popular. “I’m excited about things like that,” she said. “I’m just going to build up as I go along.”
Debbie, who hopes to buy local produce and plans to offer part time and weekend employment to local people, loves the site and even though she has other sites to manage she knows where she’d like to be working.
And the reason she chose the name Seal View for the venture is because whatever the season, she often sees a seal bobbing along in the waves as she walks her dog along the beach from Hemsby.
Alex Clare of Norfolk’s Edge, operated from the Airstreams serving visitors to the beach and dunes from summer last year.
The former Ingham Swan head chef is now offering private dining for customers in their own homes and catering for events.
